Ubuntu: Installing update of cmake. Old version still shows up

Newbee Question cocnerning the Ubtuntu ML-out-of-the box image.
I am trying to set up a development kit which requires cmake 3.16. Right now 3.12 is installed.
Using the Ubuntu installer i can run an update to 3.16 and it will even tell me it’s installed in the dialog box. back in terminal cmake --version still tells me it’s 3.12.

How do i replace the old with the new version?

Thank You for your help!

@RobRob42 This process worked for me:

Download version 3.16:

wget https://github.com/Kitware/CMake/releases/download/v3.16.3/cmake-3.16.3.tar.gz

Extract the files:

tar -xzvf cmake-3.16.3.tar.gz

Open the directory:

cd cmake-3.16.3

The template you’re using does not include OpenSSL (required by CMake). Install OpenSSL with:

sudo apt-get install libssl-dev

Then run these commands:

sudo ./bootstrap

sudo make

sudo make install

The process took about 10 minutes to complete.

Let me know if you run into any trouble!
